Delivering Messages from Spirits
Since 1980 I have been privileged to observe other mediums delivering messages to the public, an event that is currently referred to as a gallery reading. Each medium has a unique approach to their delivery, an individual style. I’ve noticed that some mediums provide short messages, while others relay long messages, perhaps four minutes in length.
Some of the mediums I have observed were trained to go to where they see spirit light. This light usually forms over the head or around the center of the person who is to receive the message. The light indicates that a spirit is making its presence known for this person and that they desire to give a message to them. After the message has been delivered, another spirit light will appear to indicate to the medium where to go next.
Other mediums are attracted by the energy emanating from a person in the audience or the spirit present with that person, and do not see a light. I have observed one medium who “bounces” from one person to the next, jumping from one side of the room all the way across to the other. She says that the spirit is directing her to go to them.
Some mediums will begin with a psychic impression and slide into delivering a spirit message once the spirit has made its presence known. Still others will begin by bringing in a spirit, perhaps a grandmother or a friend, and relay what this particular spirit wants to convey. Nothing psychic might be given, or a bit of information that would be classified as psychic might be delivered. It all depends on the medium. Every medium will sound different, phrase things differently, and receive spirit in an individual manner. As the saying goes, no two snowflakes are the same. No two mediums are the same, either.
I have watched how one medium will deliver messages in rapid-fire style, while the next will be more deliberate and speak more slowly. Some mediums are animated and others are very proper. Some share humor. I am humorous and quite animated when I deliver messages, for instance. There is no right or wrong way to deliver a message as far as style in concerned. It just is what it is.
In Cassadaga, we often have visiting British mediums who come to serve our church. Their style of delivery is much longer and more detailed than the American way. They do not predict coming events or demonstrate psychic abilities. The British method is to connect with a spirit and then, through sensing, hearing, seeing, or smelling, or a combination of these abilities, convey significant information about the spirit so the recipient can identify the spirit. Information about the spirit such as height, hair color, clothing style, appearance, where they lived, or a favorite pastime comes through for the medium and is relayed to the recipient. British mediums frequently will ask the recipient if they can identify the spirit or if they understand the message.
